Rookie of the Year – Just in Time for Earth Day

This Earth Day, we’ve got something special to celebrate.

Last week, we were honoured at the 5th Annual Green Leader Awards, hosted by the London Environmental Network and Green Economy London. London Bicycle Café was named Rookie of the Year, recognizing new Green Economy members who are making meaningful progress on sustainability and climate action. We’re proud to share the title with our friends at Claworx Ceramic Arts Learning Centre, another local gem working toward a more resilient city.

To be recognized in a room full of inspiring local businesses, nonprofits, and community partners was incredibly meaningful. These are the folks who are walking the walk: reducing emissions, championing biodiversity, creating circular systems, and building a stronger London from the ground up.

We’re just getting started on this journey.

Over the past year, we’ve deepened our commitment to low-carbon transportation, helped other organizations test out e-bikes for business, and expanded our offerings at the café to support local food and drink producers. Every decision we make – from the bikes we carry to the coffee we brew – reflects our belief that cities can, and should, work better for people and the planet.

So this Earth Day, we’re reflecting on what it means to be a green leader. For us, it’s about small, everyday choices that add up to something much bigger. It’s about community, collaboration, and carving out space for hope in a world that desperately needs it.

To everyone who supports what we do: thank you.

And to our fellow changemakers in London, we see you. We admire you. We’re grateful to be on this path together.

Here’s to Earth Day. Here’s to bicycles. Here’s to better cities, powered by people.
