If you travel through downtown London or along the Thames Valley Parkway, there are some important route changes starting March 2.
The Queen’s Bridge Rehabilitation Project is beginning, and it will affect access across the river near Queens Avenue.

Here is what you need to know if you are riding to the Bicycle Café.
What Is Changing
• Queens Avenue will be reduced to one westbound lane
• The Thames Valley Parkway will be closed at the bridge on both sides of the river
• Occasional full bridge closures with detours are expected later in the year
If you normally cross the river at Queens Avenue or ride under the bridge on the TVP, you will need to adjust your route.
Riding to the Café
If you are coming along the Thames Valley Parkway, the section at Queens Bridge will be closed on both sides of the river.
Plan to detour up to a nearby road crossing before reconnecting with the trail. Watch for posted signage and allow a few extra minutes for your ride.
Despite the recommended detour routes below, we recommend utilizing the segment Ridout St. North to Blackfriars bridge. The eliminates the Harris Gate hill with a steep climb/descent between the intersection of Dufferin and Ridout St. and Harris Park. Why the hill would be recommended is beyond me.

If you are unsure which crossing works best from your direction, stop by the shop and we are happy to help you map it out.
Short Term Disruption, Long Term Benefit
Construction is never convenient, but maintaining key infrastructure like Queen’s Bridge keeps our city moving safely for the long run.
We are open as usual and ready to welcome you. Plan your route, enjoy the ride, and we will see you at the café.
